Costa de Almería

Costa de Almería is one of Spain’s fastest developing regions. Almería is famous for its Cabo de Gata Nature Park, home to one of the top ten beaches and top ten scuba diving venues in the world. Many classical movies have been shot under its bright, Mediterranean light: Lawrence of Arabia, Cleopatra, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, just to name a few. Also the film location for numerous westerns, its Far West town is today a tourist attraction in the breathtaking Tabernas desert. Not to forget Sierra Nevada, Europe’s southernmost ski resort, which is a mere 90 minutes away.

Almería basks in more than 3,000 hours of sunshine per year. The wild beauty of its sierras, deserts and beaches has captured the imagination of numerous celebrities such as Steven Spielberg, Clint Eastwood, Arnold Schwarzenegger or John Lennon.

Whether you are looking for relaxation, sports, nightlife or to soak up historical sights, Almería has it all. The region is steeped in history and offers everything from Arabic fortresses, to national parks, stunning coastlines and traditional white towns.

Over the next 5-10 years, numerous golf, tennis, spa, marina and leisure resorts will be built.  Property prices are significantly lower than the adjacent Costa del Sol, with the average property values rising every year.  The capital appreciation on the new resorts, from inception to completion, is typically over 60%.

The Almería international airport is easily reached within 2½ hours from any UK airport and a significant number of European cities. An additional airport is under construction in the adjacent Region of Murcia. Almería also benefits from excellent sea, road and rail links.
