Desert Springs
You don’t have to be a golfer to appreciate this kind of wild and rugged landscape, set on a plateau above the dry Almanzora river valley as it sweeps down to the sea. Pleasant, lush green fairways meander between dry wadis, cactus and rocky outcrops where desert springs feed streams, waterfalls and rapids which tumble down through Santa Rosa Creek and Powder Creek Rapids to Steamboat Lake.
The 18 hole Indiana Course, designed by Peter McEvoy is the first desert golf course in Europe and has been built to the full U.S.G.A specifications.
At Desert Springs there is something for everyone - Steam Boat Lake a shimmering expanse of water and islands in the middle of the desert, with sailing, fishing and other non-invasive water sports. - The Crocodile Club a thatched African style long house with pools, bars and dining terraces, tennis and paddle, trim track, children’s play bunkers, gymnasium and games room -El Velero a sail shaded and tented restaurant on its own island deck on Steamboat Lake. The Embarcadero a broad quayside on the southern edge of the lake providing quality shopping, restaurants, coffee houses, ice cream parlours, boat hire and other activities. La Reina del Lago a luxurious 60 bedroom jewel of a hotel on the lake; extensive health and relaxation facilities including treatment complex, rest areas, covered pool, gymnasium and fitness suite.
Desert Springs boasts a wide choice of luxury properties, all enjoying spectacular views of the golf course and mountains.
